Our actions

Humanity & Inclusion works with local actors and service providers to improve the early detection of disabilities among toddlers and to provide early intervention services for affected children. HI works to identify children with disabilities and ensure their access to health and learning services.

HI supports the prevention of Covid-19 infections and mitigates its socioeconomic impact on people living in vulnerable circumstances. To do so, HI provides households with food and cash assistance and supports the recovery of income generation activities.

In Asyut governorate, HI is strengthening the economic empowerment of households of people with disabilities by providing support to their businesses and promoting economic inclusion.

African States against the use of explosive weapons in populated areas

From 27th to 28th November, Handicap International (HI) is organizing a regional conference on the bombing of civilians. The Conference will take place in Maputo, Mozambique and aims to bring together some 20 States, 10 African civil society organizations and international NGOs. The goal is to raise awareness of this vital challenge among African countries and to encourage them to take action on the world stage to protect civilians from the devastating impact of the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.

Background

Map of Humanity & Inclusion's interventions in Egypt

In Egypt, people with disabilities are often overlooked and lack access to essential services.

Social and political systems in Egypt are rapidly evolving. In 2011, a series of events underlined the need for far-reaching changes in the status of young people in Egypt. Members of the Movement for the Rights of People with Disabilities, along with other stakeholders in Egyptian society, have all expressed their desire for change. They have successfully campaigned for the establishment of the National Council on Disability Affairs. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has weakened the economic situation of the country delaying potential progress in the field of disability.
