Support inclusive humanitarian action in Afghanistan

The 260 men and women on our Afghan team are working hard to provide support to people with disabilities or injuries, internally displaced people, and those facing situations of extreme hardship.

Plagued by decades of conflict, Afghanistan is now considered one of the world's most contaminated countries, with explosive remnants of war and landmines a constant threat to civilians. Humanitarian needs are immense.

In a country where 80 percent of adults live with disability, and more than 2.5 million adults experience a severe disability that significantly impacts their daily activities and interactions, the rehabilitation services our teams provide play a vital role in helping people maintain their independence.

Your gift in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan can make a critical impact.

$50 can provide mine risk education for 10 people
$150 can provide 15 rehabilitation sessions
$500 can provide two artificial limbs

For 34 years, Humanity & Inclusion has provided inclusive humanitarian action and rehabilitation support in Afghanistan, while growing in community with the people we serve.

In 1996, we built the only rehabilitation center in the southern part of the country. Today, the center in Kandahar, which also includes a prosthetics and orthotics workshop, sees close to 300 patients each week. Some travel hours on end—more than 300 miles—to receive care.

In isolated areas without full-service health facilities, our mobile teams provide at-home rehabilitation services, as well as psychosocial support. They teach local people, especially children, how to spot, avoid, and report the weapons littering their school yards and fields. All of this while battling the effects of Covid-19. Last year, with the help of our donors, life-changing resources directly impacted the lives of more than 160,000 people across the country.
