The escalating tensions in the northern Tigray region fuel hunger, economic crisis, and conflict with each passing day.
Imagine, 5.5 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, as communities experience widespread hunger and malnutrition, constant security risks, and extremely limited resources. Families are fleeing their homes. Temporary shelters are also unsafe. Reported cases of sexual violence against women and children are also on the rise.
More than 2.2 million children are experiencing acute food insecurity and severe malnutrition, which can cause serious delays in child development and even lead to lifelong disabilities.
And people already living with disabilities face isolation and barriers to health care and other services. So far, more than 4,650 people with disabilities were identified as having unique needs requiring tailored humanitarian assistance.
