Humanity & Inclusion (HI) has partnered with ARTICLE22, a social enterprise that transforms war shrapnel into handmade jewelry to address the threats posed by explosive weapons.
Through the partnership, a portion of each purchase made through HI’s dedicated ARTICLE22 shopping link will directly support HI’s work to clear explosive ordnance, educate communities about explosive hazards, and provide rehabilitation and other support to survivors.
Landmines and cluster munitions stay buried for decades, long after the fighting stops, turning farmland and footpaths into danger zones.
Today we’re excited to share a new way to be part of the solution: Humanity & Inclusion is partnering with ARTICLE22 to turn remnants of war into symbols of hope!
Hannah Guedenet, HI’s U.S. Executive Director, says, “Landmines and cluster munitions continue to threaten lives long after conflicts end. Through our partnership with ARTICLE22, we are helping to turn remnants of war into a force for good, supporting efforts to protect communities and help survivors rebuild their lives.”
ARTICLE22 has a remarkable mission. Artisan families in Laos handcraft each piece of jewelry from the remnants of bombs dropped there, and every purchase helps fund the clearance of the millions of unexploded bombs still scattered across the country. Now, that mission is deepening through a partnership with HI, the world's most comprehensive mine action organization.
Our teams have been tackling this crisis since 1982, when we were founded in response to the landmine crisis among Cambodian refugees. Today, we work in 59 countries to clear explosive weapons, teach communities how to stay safe, and support survivors with rehabilitation, prosthetics, and pathways back to work and community life.
When you shop through HI's link, a portion of every sale directly supports our work. Every piece tells a story of turning something that once caused harm into something beautiful, and we’re so excited to partner with a team that sees the world that way!
