HI is furthering inclusive education in Burkina Faso with Euromonitor International.

Nathalie, 8, has both a visual and intellectual disability as a result of a severe malaria infection when she was 2 years old. Upon her arrival at school, Nathalie hid herself away from her classmates. Thanks to our project, she now likes to sing and dance with her classmates and have lunch with them. The Saint Vincent de Paul School that Nathalie is attending is a pilot school for HI’s inclusive education project.

Humanity & Inclusion UK and Euromonitor International have partnered on an Inclusive Education project in Burkina Faso.

Approximately 85.5% of people in Burkina Faso with a disability have not received an education. Our project seeks to remove various barriers for children with disabilities and this includes equipping schools with accessible toilets, ramps, and distributing sustainable teaching material made of wood and fabric. We have also integrated a cohort of visiting teachers who we have extensively trained in providing one-to-one support.

Through this project, we aim to help thousands of and refugee children to enroll at school, adequately train teachers and provide the necessary care to children with severe disabilities.

In 2018, Euromonitor International partnered with Humanity & Inclusion UK on a Maternal and Child Healthcare project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Together, we ensured that 31,490 women had a safe delivery in the Healthcare Centers where we train and support the staff.

Sarah Hunter, Corporate Social Responsibility Director at Euromonitor International shared: “We are delighted to again be supporting Humanity and Inclusion this coming year, once again as a headline partner for Euromonitor International, helping fund their inclusive education project in Burkina Faso”.

Jane Morris, Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy at HI UK added: “We are thrilled that Euromonitor International are continuing their support for and vulnerable children, this time in Burkina Faso, one of the world’s poorest countries, where 73% of children with disabilities are not in education. This invaluable partnership will help us continue to improve this situation by responding to the diverse educational needs of children with different disabilities”.

Thank you to Euromonitor International for your incredible support!
