Ebola is Back, HI Teams Ready to Respond

On January 15, just hours after the World Health Organization declared the Ebola outbreak in West Africa to be over, a new case of Ebola was confirmed in Sierra Leone. Handicap International’s Ebola ambulance and decontamination teams are on the watch and ready to intervene alongside the Sierra Leonean health authorities.

Over the course of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, Handicap International teams have transported more than 3,800 patients to treatment centers and disinfected 1,800 contaminated homes in Sierra Leone’s Western Area. The teams still maintain an intervention capacity for the transportation of suspicious or confirmed cases and the decontamination of homes.
