In the context of escalating conflict and worsening humanitarian needs, these logistics services have become a vital part of the response.
In this interview, Simon Chahine, Field Coordinator at CESVI, shares how HI/Atlas Logistics' warehousing and transport services are helping his organization provide aid to those it supports.
Can you briefly present CESVI’s mission and your activities in Lebanon?
CESVI1 has been operating in Lebanon since 2001, implementing both emergency and development programs supported by institutional and private donors. Since 2015, our work has focused on providing basic assistance, education, protection, and livelihoods support. Following the recent escalation of the conflict, we also launched emergency response efforts in 2024.
How did the partnership with Atlas Logistics begin?
As part of the coordination efforts between humanitarian organizations aimed at improving the delivery of humanitarian aid, we have been in contact with the HI/Atlas Logistics team since November 2024. A few months later, in January 2025, we formalized our collaboration with a partnership agreement.
What challenges does Atlas Logistics help you overcome in your operations in Lebanon?
CESVI doesn’t operate its own warehouse in Lebanon, and for large-scale transportation of humanitarian goods, we typically rely on third parties. Atlas Logistics' warehouse in Beirut was a major asset. It helped us avoid delays and optimize costs, both of which are critical when responding to urgent needs. In addition, the transportation services provided for our activities in Baalbek ensured the smooth delivery of winter kits, including warm clothing and blankets to families facing harsh winter conditions.
Can you share an example of how your activities improved through this partnership?
For our recent winter campaign, the Atlas Logistics team supported us in preparing customized winter kits for each family, even taking the number of family members and clothing sizes into account. Their flexible setup and organized workspace allowed for quick and efficient preparation, enabling us to distribute urgent assistance to families in need during the winter season.
Would you recommend Atlas Logistics services to other humanitarian organizations in Lebanon?
Yes, absolutely. The services are truly supportive for organizations in need of warehousing and transportation. The collaboration process is straightforward and user-friendly, and the professionalism and flexibility of the Atlas Logistics team make for a highly positive and effective partnership!
