Silver Spring, Maryland — Humanity & Inclusion is pleased to announce that USAID awarded the organization $12.5 million to fund the Inclusion IIb project in Vietnam. Through the project, HI will enhance rehabilitation services, social services, and disability policies in Binh Dinh and Kon Tum provinces, improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.

HI’s strategy involves committees for adaptive, results-based management, and stakeholder collaboration to create sustainable health system changes. HI has identified potential sub-awardees and will work with them to strengthen services and policies.

“We have formed strategic partnerships with the provincial bureaus of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs, who are key stakeholders in the disability and rehabilitation sector in Vietnam, with the aim of joining efforts to improve the lives of persons with disabilities,” explains Didier Demey, who is overseeing the project for Humanity & Inclusion.

With extensive experience and expertise, HI is well-equipped to achieve the project's goals and contribute to USAID's localization process to strengthen access to high-quality rehabilitation services.

“We’re focusing on a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach that links individuals with their environment and makes rehabilitation services more accessible to those who need them,” Demey adds. “We are excited to lead this project and positively impact rehabilitation and inclusion in Vietnam.”

HI began working in Vietnam in 1989. Since then, HI has been active in the fields of rehabilitation, inclusive education, economic empowerment and disability prevention in the country. Today, with USAID’s support, the organization is building the technical skills of local rehabilitation teams—doctors, physical therapists and social workers—and providing needed equipment.
