Aiding Iraqis and Syrians Fleeing War

Since the beginning of 2014, 2.8 million Iraqis have fled fighting in the north and west of the country. More than one million traveled to Kurdistan. They join more than 248,000 Syrians seeking refuge there.

HI launched an emergency project in May 2014 in four Syrian refugee camps to ensure that people with disabilities are able to access aid and services. Immediately following the fall of Mosul in June 2014, HI deployed mobile rehabilitation teams to meet the needs of displaced Iraqis.
