On October 20, Handicap International hosted a private screening of the Jessica Cox documentary film, Right Footed in Washington, D.C. The film tells the story of Handicap International Goodwill Ambassador Jessica Cox and her work with Handicap International as a disability rights advocate. Jessica, her husband Patrick Chamberlain and Director Nick Spark were present to discuss the film and answer audience questions.
We were happy to host notable attendees including Judith Heumann, Special Advisor for International Disability Rights of the U.S. Department of State and David Morrissey, Executive Director of the U.S. International Council on Disabilities.
So, Right Footed has been screened at 16 film festivals around the U.S. and internationally has won Best Documentary awards at MIRABILE DICTU Film Festival at the Vatican City, Rome, the Offshoot Film Festival, and the International Film Festival Manhattan. It has two audience awards, and won Best Social Impact Film 2015 at the Hollywood Film Festival. Brad Parks, CEO of the Hollywood Film Festival, called Right Footed "… a phenomenal documentary that will inspire audiences worldwide.”
