Acting and campaigning in places where "standing tall" is no easy task
Humanity & Inclusion (the new name of Handicap International) is an independent and impartial aid organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster.
We work alongside people with disabilities and populations experiencing situations of extreme hardship, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.
Together with local partners, we develop programs in health and rehabilitation and social and economic integration. We work with local authorities to clear landmines and other war debris and to prevent mine-related accidents through education. We respond fast and effectively to natural and civil disasters in order to limit serious and permanent injuries and to assist survivors' recovery and reintegration. We advocate for the universal recognition of the rights of people with disabilities through national planning and advocacy.
Generous donors enable Humanity & Inclusion teams to make a real difference in 59 countries.
8 National Associations
There are eight national associations in the Humanity & Inclusion Network: Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Together, we mobilize resources and raise awareness of Humanity & Inclusion programs and the communities we serve. The Humanity & Inclusion Network implements these programs.
Humanity & Inclusion is committed to reducing the adverse effects of climate change on populations worldwide. We help communities prepare for and adapt to climate shocks and stresses, and we respond to crises magnified by environmental factors. Applying a disability, gender and age (DGA) inclusion lens across all our actions, we advocate for practitioners and policy-makers to embed DGA in their climate work as well. Humanity & Inclusion is also determined to reduce its own ecological footprint by adapting and implementing environmentally conscious approaches to humanitarian action.
