Crisis in DR Congo: “We go days without food or sleep” 06/16/17

More than two million people have been affected by the humanitarian crisis in Grand Kasai, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Handicap International has sent emergency specialists to support its teams already working in the field. Sulu Bellarmin, who works as the organization’s driver and a logistics assistant, tells us what life is like in Kasai.

Sri Lanka emergency: Death toll mounts following severe floods 06/02/17

Launch of weapons clearance operations in Iraq 05/26/17

Several weeks ago, Handicap International launched weapons clearance operations in the governorates of Kirkuk and Diyala in Iraq. In one month, the organization has already destroyed more than 1,000 explosive remnants of war in sectors seriously affected by fighting.

Mosul: Nearly 100,000 people displaced in two months 05/26/17

Two months ago, the Iraqi and Kurdish armed forces launched an offensive to retake Mosul, in Iraq. Since then, nearly 100,000 people have fled the city and its surroundings. Handicap International’s teams are working in various displacement areas to provide them with assistance.

On the 21st of March 2017, Baker was injured in an air attack in the west of Mosul. After having both of his legs amputated, he is now recovering in a hospital on the outskirts of the city. Handicap International is providing him with physical therapy care and psychosocial support.

“They are inseparable”: Nirmala and Khendo, 2 years after the Nepal earthquake 04/24/17

Nirmala, 9, and Khendo, 10, both had limbs amputated after being injured in the huge earthquake which hit Nepal on 25th April 2015. Humanity & Inclusion's team has provided them with ongoing rehabilitation care and artificial limb legs. With the right support, two years later the girls are both walking and back at school. Their transformation has been amazing.
