More than 30 people were killed in the exchanges of rocket fire and airstrikes between Gaza and Israel over the weekend. In Gaza, this escalation of violence could lead to a new wave of injuries, with surgical and rehabilitation services already overwhelmed.  

Mozambique is still reeling from the devastating impact of Cyclone Idai 6 weeks ago but has not been spared from further disaster. Cyclone Kenneth struck the north of the country yesterday. 

Since Nepal was hit by an earthquake on 25th April 2015, Humanity & Inclusion has provided support to more than 25,000 disaster-affected people.

Thousands of residents of Beira city live in poverty in densely packed slums. Their makeshift homes could not withstand the force or cyclone Idai. Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is coordinating clean-up and reconstruction efforts for these hardest-hit communities.

The International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW) of which Humanity & Inclusion is a founding member has launched an International Parliamentary Appeal calling on politicians including members of Congress in the UK to urgently support action to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas. For Humanity & Inclusion the Appeal will be part of the organizations Stop Bombing Civilians campaign in 2019.

Anwar is 9 years old. Four years ago, as his family was fleeing the bombing in Sana'a, Yemen, his leg was hit by a shard of metal and had to be amputated a few hours later.

Humanity & Inclusion's Global Managing Director, Manuel Patrouillard, addressed the UN Security Council on Monday 1st April to share his concerns about the persistent and targeted violences against humanitarian actors in their areas of intervention.

In regions of Mozambique devastated by Cyclone Idai, food insecurity is expected to rocket in the coming months. HI will distribute kits of essential foodstuffs to 12,000 families in need.

Days before the anniversary of the Great March of Return on 30th March, HI is concerned about growing tension in Gaza in recent weeks. Further violence could lead to a surge in injuries, placing further pressure on already overwhelmed surgical and rehabilitation services. HI is calling on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid violence with potentially disastrous consequences for civilians.
